Among LED industrial lighting fixtures, a very important and common category is LED high bay fixtures. LED high bay light refers to a generic term of all kind of LED luminaries that are used in working places like factory, mine, warehouse, high-ceiling area and so on. LED high bay retrofit includes not only every kind of lights applied in ordinary environments, but also explosion-proof and corrosion-proof light which are used in specific environment. Installing LED high bay fixtures is also one of very important outdoor LED lighting solutions besides LED flood lights and LED panel high bays.
LED high bay lights can be divided into two kinds according to lighting functions: general illumination lights and partial illumination lights.
General Illumination Lights
General illumination lights are usually uniformly furnished on ceilings or on a working place’s side wall in order to illuminate the whole working area. It needs high-performance LED high bay light bulbs. General illumination light has high requirements for the distribution of spread. The distributions of direct and semi-direct illumination are widely employed, particularly the latter. Part of the up-going lights from semi-direct illumination can increase the brightness of ceilings so as to create more comfortable and brighter environment.
Partial Illumination Lights
A partial illumination light is a luminary that enhances a certain working area. Its function is to enhance and supplement the lighting based on general illumination, or also to act as temporary in some places where there’s not enough adequate lux levels, such as equipment overhauling and maintaining places. Most of the times the light distribution required is not strictly as strict on those spots. Partial illumination lights are often installed in places near working areas. They are portable lights, hanging lights, work desk lights, machine tool working lights and so forth. In some large and high-ceiling plants, LED flood lights are sometimes used as partial lighting.
Divided in accordance with the light source, LED high bay fixtures can be traditional light source high bay (like sodium lamp high bay and mercury lamp high bay) and LED high bay. Compared with traditional one, LED high bay fixtures have big advantages:
- LED high bay light has high RA. RA>70.
- LED high bay light has high light efficiency and more energy-saving. LED high bay light 100W can be a replacement of traditional high bay light 250W.
- Traditional light source has many shortcomings on what comes to luminary temperature. The luminary temperature can reach 200-300℃. However, LED itself is cold light source, that doesn’t generate literally no excessive heat. So it’s safer and belongs to the category of cool sources.
- LED high bay fixtures are currently facing unceasing innovation, with some of the more advanced passive heat sink designs. It makes the gross weight of 80W LED high bay light decrease to under 4 kilograms and can perfectly solve the heat dissipation problem of 80-300W LED high bay fixtures.
To meet the aesthetic requirements of different production operation and the requirements of light fixtures’ installation condition, LED high bay lights’ reflectors LED should be able to generate light distribution of all kinds of width. Reflectors whose surface painted with oil paint and glaze can get wide light distribution as well as reflectors that are made by aluminum, glass mirror, prismatic glass and so forth. They are suitable to be used in places with large area and in vertical working spaces.
LED high bay light has special requirements in structure design, outer case and reflector to work chronically and stably in dusty and moist environment. In dusty environment, we should use closed fixtures or sealed ones with upward luminous flux. In moist environments, we should focus on the outer frame’s leaking-proof and the reflector LED’s surface solution. Generally, open-style luminaries are often used in indoor places. LED high bay lights have many kinds of fixation methods. General illumination lights have the methods of ceiling mounted, implanting, hoisting and wall mounted. Removable partial lights are equipped with corresponding hooks, handles and spigots. Fixed-partial lights are usually firmly locked to working machinery with screws.
LED high bay fixture price, like outdoor LED industrial lighting price, is decided by three main things: Heat dissipation frame, LED chip and LED light source.
